Lester Young gets what he wants.
Prez, as he was called, was one of the saxophonists in Count Basie’s orchestra. If you don’t know who Count Basie is, educate the mind. Prez was known for both introducing a relaxed, chilled out tone in his melodies and for spreading much of the 1940’s hipster sub-culture based jargon that a lot of slang in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s grew out of. You pick up what I’m laying down?

Coelho has done some good work in The Pilgrim & The Alchemist, but it’s flown under the radar because of the extreme metaphor involved in his writing. There’s a lot of truth in things that you don’t take only at face value. Our filters do quite a bit of the heavy lifting, as hinted at here.

Just in case you were raised on more recent comedy, you need a dose of Chaplin. The man was not only a pioneer and visionary, but , when given the chance to speak, he said the best thing ever. If you don’t believe me, see below. And yes, the speech makes a dope thing to sample when it comes to making cool music.
