Ok, so Baauer came out with this track called Harlem Shake (linked to). Months ago. It’s a fun, bass-y track that you would enjoy hearing at a party, and think nothing of it. Apparently at the beginning of the month, this video came out:

And it escalated rather quickly from there until internet start-ups & websites were getting in on the action.

By today, the Army had gotten into it (both the US & Norwegian Armies no less)

And now, the r/harlemshake sub-reddit has almost 9,000 people in it. This is barely a week old and there’s already a 300+ person flashmob planned for Tuesday night here in NYC. I gotta congratulate Baauer and hopefully he gets mad cred from this, because he’s a solid artist that is poised to blow up in 2013. I leave you with T-Pain getting in on the action 😀
