Midnight Music: ODESZA – Say My Name (ft. Zyra)

One of the things I take great pleasure in is watching artists rise from obscurity to eventually blow minds of thousands at a time. I’ve been lovingly stalking ODESZA for a year or so now, and each time the pair from out West put something out, it makes my day. In Return is no exception. ODESZA exists in this delightful space between chill trap, UK garage, deep house & indie. The vocals of Zyra add to the glittering bass work that they’ve come up with. The 2014 tour is already starting to sell out in the big cities like NYC, DC, SF and Boston, so check out the tour info here and get those tickets fast if you’re in a lucky city that hasn’t discovered this awesome sound yet. New stuff coming 9/9.14 so get excited for me to yell about how awesome they are even more 😀

Midnight Music: Rook Milo – Bodyroll [Soulful Bass]

V-Man of FNT bringing the fire once again. This “Bodyroll” by Rook Milo is fresh. The synthed vocals pushed out over the the irregular bass backend creates a minimal but massive tune. There almost sinister vibe that Rook Milo is able to capture at 1:45 is a great sign that there’s a lot more awesome sounds to come from this kid. It’s not only sexy, but can also add to the hard vibe of a set if it’s set up correctly. A crew of strings assist the bass in giving the track an orchestral quality that I don’t hear in bass music much these days, so kudos to Rook Milo for injecting that into this. (via FreshNewTracks)

Midnight Music: Metric – Blindness (Amtrac Remix) [Indie Bass]

I’ve gotta throw it up for Amtrac. I’ve been watching the Kentucky star’s climb for years and this track was where I discovered the inventive & bassy deliciousness that Amtrac creates. The lyrics remain a centerpiece, as you don’t want to fuck with Metric, but the remix is solid, giving you a dark, but gorgeous track to drive around at 3 AM with. This is definitely a dark tune but dark in an inviting kind of way. And it’s a Free Download, so put it into the face.

Midnight Music: Bulb’s Remix of “Not Of This” Reality by Borealis

Tonight, I’m bringing you some wobbly, cushy bass, put out by Origami Sound, one of my favorite independent labels. The Bulb remix of “Not Of This Reality” is a smartly arranged & well executed track that adds some spunky beats to some glitchy bass & ethereal vocals. Get at it & Origami Sound for some quality choonage.
