Mix Of The Weekend: When Did Collin McLoughlin Get Deep?

My people at EDMTunes have made a serious pick up when it comes to exclusive mixes. I don’t know who convinced Collin McLoughlin to go deep for his new mix, but the Gods sing their praises. This new direction from the dubstep remix maestro extraordinaire is astonishing. To not only switch gears, but to make it seem effortless is truly amazing. The mix convinces me we need to get the kid at a Verboten or Deep Space events ASAP. Someone call Reda Briki and get this kid at Sankeys please. Because if they don’t…I just might.

Hometown Fire: REsy

For this edition of Hometown Fire, I’m delighted to feature one of the hardest working ladies in the NYC underground & Burner community. While I’ve mentioned her before, she’s fought her way through the Gotham underground and earned a slot at Sankeys NYC, the UK super-club transplant that opened this fall (discussed here by me previously). This is a HUGE win for fans of the silky smooth & soulful signature sound that seeps from the speakers whenever she slips onto the decks. There’s a deep, almost tribal quality to some of the more intense moments of her mixes, something that you couldn’t ignore if you caught her set at GlamTech. There’s a bunch more on her Soundcloud before.

To reiterate, one of the shooting stars of the underground is spinning at one of the most underrated clubs in the city. She’s setting up for Reda Briki, a dance institution in his own right, but this post is not for him. It’s for Resy. Because she drops it like it is much warmer than it is outside my apartment right now. Get tickets for it here.

Broke On Holiday: ReSolute, Cielo (Free), Output (Free), Sankeys & More!…Turkey Day Weekend!

There’s quite a bit going on over the long weekend so you have no excuse to whine about being stuck dealing with your family, as long as you live in limping distance to the 5 boroughs. I’ve got a semi-competent list of quality goods that won’t break the bank. That way, if you need to buy another drink to deal with your family, you don’t have to sell any plasma. I know, I’m a generous soul, once again making it all better with bass. Here they are, ordered by day. Come on out and burn off all of them stuffing-related calories. Pictured above is Hector Moralez, with deep support at an underground venue in Brooklyn. There’s a strong chance this event will be fabulous, and a certainty it’ll have a deep, latin, funky & soulful vibe to it. There aren’t very many of these spaces left in NYC, and at $15.00, you’re paying what I paid when there were more than a decade ago.

Sankeys comes to NYC! The British Are Coming!

It’s a good time to club in NYC. Sankeys, the shuttered venue in Manchester will be in Manhattan by Halloween. After 3 seasons in Ibiza, they’re crossing the pond. The new spot will be opening on 29 West 36th Street, right around Bryant Park & Herald Square, smack in the middle of midtown. There’s going to be some amazing sound and lights that are detailed on the site and press release for the tech-heads. The Halloween debut will feature Reboot, No Regular Play & My Favorite Robot. Slow Hands, the uncomparable DJ Sneak, Tanner Ross & Fur Coat (all the way from Venezuela) will round out the first weekend. The more big names the better. With the departure of District 36, Midtown is lacking a flagship spot and I know Sankeys will be chomping at the bit to show us Gothamites how Manchester does a proper party.
