While I’ve spoken about Kove a couple of times here on le blerg, this is the first time he’s hit my radar for house. This shift in gears for him is a stunning reminder that talent is talent, with DJs mixing it up more and more these days. This deeper, almost Chicago house offering is a fantastic re-imagining of the Zeds Dead track that’s not due out until Jan 2015. The track premiered on Annie Mac over the weekend, so I knew I needed to get it to you as quickly as possible. Kove shows that he can pull into a much groovier, funky end of the dance spectrum with this track. It’s all fun and games, especially with the pull back 90 seconds in. The build back into the groove goes without a hiccup and you’re shaking without realizing it once again soon after. Hit up the rest of Kove‘s work, especially if you’re a fan of that drum & bass sound like I am.

Midnight Music: Omar LinX – Dosey Doe (prod. by Pro Logic & Zeds Dead) [Hip Hop Bass]
We’re getting closer. This Song Is Sick tipped me off to the next level of hip hop & bass fusion. We’ve been making baby steps towards fusing the two exceptionally different genres since the late 90’s. While some of the attempts have been awful (I’m looking at you Tiesto & Three Six Mafia, don’t think we’ve forgotten), this is one of the better offerings I’ve heard this year. Omar Linx isn’t too fast, smart, and Pro Logic & Zeds Dead producing this allows for a powerful Future Hip Hop sound. The lyrical work keeps pace with the bass without ever getting too hard, too gangsta or crazy for the beat, and a good time is had by all.
Playlists Of The Weekend: EDMTunes/Spinnin’ Records & InDeep 30!
Super glad that I can bring this out to share for y’all. A bunch of my peeps at EDMTunes put together this fantastic 90min of dance music for you. New illness from The Chainsmokers, deep gorgeousness from Matt Lange off Anjunabeats, Bassnectar’s summer jam & 17 more tunes. From trap bangers to progressive anthems, if you want to know what Electric Zoo sounds like right now, you’d be hard pressed to find a better sampling of tunes that are big right now. Strong by Arno Cost & Shadow of the Sun’s Mako remix are highlights as well. Hit up EDMTunes and thank them for making this happen with Spinnin’ Records. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you know when the next one comes out as well.
Over on Soundcloud, there’s the next session of InDeep. These cats are quickly becoming my go to source for deep, future, tech & “insert sub-genre of house here” house. The list comes in at a manageable 72min and with new Hot Since 82, Amtrac, a fun little snippet from Marcapasos, a FANTASTIC deep house remix of Bittersweet Symphony (must listen), a joint from Mixmag featuring Jody Wisternoff & a whole lot more. If the EDMTunes playlist is your Turn Down For What list, this is your grooving, deep dark set that happens later in the night. Or now while you’re walking around cleaning the house on the long weekend before shenanigans later. Or yachting, elephant polo’ing or jousting, whatever you’re into. The tunes are quality so enjoy the almost 3 hours of music between these two playlists and rock out your weekend!
