Didn’t get a ticket this year? Scared off by the $1000+ price on Stubhub – or the ire of the Burnier-Than-Thous if you pay more than $380 for a ticket? Don’t worry, because now you can enjoy Burning Man from the comfort of your own home.

From Tedd St Rain-bow:

How to enjoy the Burning Man Experience from the Comfort of your Own Home (just in case you felt bad about not going):

  1. Tear down your house. Put it in a truck. Drive 10 hours in any direction. Put the house back together. Invite everyone you meet to come over and party. When they leave, follow them back to their homes, drink all their booze, and break things.
  2. Stack all your fans in one corner of the living room. Put on your most fabulous outfit. Turn the fans on full blast. Dump a vacuum cleaner bag in front of…

Childish Gambino Wants To Be A “White Rapper.”

http://imgur.com/a/W2HYp

Childish Gambino is wonderful, and trying so hard to be authentic in a world full of posers. This happened on Twitter and it gets exactly to the problems that he & millions around the world face. It’s a potent plea to not be misunderstood, and to be accepted. Donald Glover is one of the people I want to see succeed at all he attempts most in this world. He deserves every iota of it. Serj Tankian & Benny Benassi Are Making EDM Now. Fear.

Ok, this is kind of bonkers. Serj Tankian (yes, that one. The one from System of a Down.) and Benny Benassi (of Satisfaction) have teamed up and pushed out a Big Room track. And, like, it’s better than Animals. Serj Tankian absolutely KILLS IT on the vocals. The symphonic preview that I’ve attached above is exactly the direction I want Big Room to move in, even if we’re still the hard electro drop at 2:10 could be a little bit more trance-y if you ask me. Though, I think everything could be a little more trance-y. The tune is a solid banger that I’d probably even post if it didn’t have Serj rocking the vocals, which, is saying quite a bit. This collab is going to be huge, kudos to ULTRA for picking this up and h/t to EDMTunes for the notification.

Midnight Music: Junkie XL vs. Elvis Presley – A Little Less Conversation [Funky Pop]

Throwback Thursday this week is getting a little love from Junkie XL. This hit was all over the place back in 2010, and it still gets me going to this day. The music video has a significant focus on the totally different styles of dance that Americans have been known to employ on the floor. This visual assistance in differentiating parts of the track allow for some fun back and forth with the different movers & shakers. Musically, Junkie XL did an exquisite job staying true to the original, respecting Elvis’ perfect vocals, while adding a bunch of rock-infused kicks that amp up the energy even further. If you’ve not heard this, you owe it to yourself, so get on with it, shut up and dance.

Midnight Music: Breakage ft. Burial – Vial [Future Garage/Burialstep]

More obscure Burial! I keep my promise that whenever I find anything Burial related that probably never saw release, you’d see it here. His signature mash of ambient sounds, maudlin garage beats & echoic vocal samples comes through once again. I’m not even sure when this was done, or if it’s officially been avowed as a Burial feature, but the internet says it was, and it kinda sounds like him, so it’s good enough for me! Burial will always sound like the first walk home from the ex’s house after you’ve been broken up with, especially if it’s raining after she did. And, even in this obscure feature, he managed to. Enjoy!

Midnight Music: Vadim Zhukov – Moscow Night [Trance & Breaks]

Gotta give it up to r/Trance, as they’re responsible for introducing me to this Russian hotness. I didn’t know you could combine Breaks & Trance, but it seems if you live in Russia, you totally can. Vadim Zhukov did this like a decade ago, but it’s still jaw-droppingly good. The build that picks up at 3:30 and pushes all the way past 5ish min is pure, classic & hard trance. This old school vibe is something you can’t hear in any Trance on either side of the pond these days. Check out the r/Trance link to listen to the rest of the CD because this dude is freaking talented, and it’s totally not something you’d expect to ever work. I hope Alexander Popox and other Russian trance artists get a listen to this, because 138 trance + breaks would be amazing. Can’t wait to see what those Eastern European kids are going to come up with next!

Midnight Music: Kito & Reija Lee ft. Zebra Katz – WORD$ (DJ Slink Remix) [Sick Jersey Club]

Jersey Club is evolving right in front of us. The genre that is best known for bed squeak noises and confusing R&B sample usage has begun to mature & blossom. This DJ Slink remix of WORD$ is a potent turn of events when it comes to the use of irregular beats, as we’ve seen in the genre. Vocal work on point, balanced against an evolving soundscape, it almost seems like an indie infusion into the genre, which is a fantastic development. The almost-rock beats push against a rhythm that smells of R&B, but only just so. DJ Slink has my attention & kudos to Kito, Reija Lee & Zebra Katz for an amazing original track. (via Stoney Roads)

Native American rapper making the rounds on Facebook

Fantastic words by a Burner turning me on to this amazing new sound. Supaman, a Native American rapper, needs your attention. This dude’s technical skill is right, with his influences giving him an entirely unique and authentic sounds. Dude that can scratch, loop and mix while wearing full-on war bonnet & Native American gear? Get this dude on a stage at Coachella. Hopefully it’ll clue in some of those white girls wearing headdresses about the appropriateness of their fashion choices.

Ryan Higa Shows You How TO Be A Rapper

Ryan Higa continues to kill it on YouTube with this hilarious tip-filled video on how to make it in “the rap game” (as the kids call it these days). Higa’s got a surprisingly large spectrum of jokes, and I’m not going to lie, the Pokemon/2 Chainz joke is gold. He’s easily one of the biggest internet celebrities you’ve never heard of if you’re over the age of 18. But he’s speaking directly to the teens & pre-teens growing up with the wacky hip hop. Just imagine, if you were in HS and instead of NWA or Public Enemy or Wu-Tang, you had Drake, Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz. It’s a weird time to be alive. (via Laughing Squid) If you’ve not heard of Ryan Higa, check out his excellent YouTube channel.

Midnight Music: Rook Milo – Bodyroll [Soulful Bass]

V-Man of FNT bringing the fire once again. This “Bodyroll” by Rook Milo is fresh. The synthed vocals pushed out over the the irregular bass backend creates a minimal but massive tune. There almost sinister vibe that Rook Milo is able to capture at 1:45 is a great sign that there’s a lot more awesome sounds to come from this kid. It’s not only sexy, but can also add to the hard vibe of a set if it’s set up correctly. A crew of strings assist the bass in giving the track an orchestral quality that I don’t hear in bass music much these days, so kudos to Rook Milo for injecting that into this. (via FreshNewTracks)
